Accessibility statement

evshake is for everyone who wants to buy or sell a used electric car, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, magnification or other assistive technology. This statement applies to the website at evshake.ch.

Conformance status

Our target is level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2. The site is partially conformant: most of it meets level AA, and the exceptions we know of are listed under known limitations below.

What we do

  • Every change to the site is checked against WCAG 2.2 level AA before it is released.
  • Every function works with a keyboard, and the focused element is always visible.
  • Text and controls have enough contrast, and the layout adapts to zoom and small screens.
  • Search results, form errors and other changes that happen without loading a new page are announced to screen readers.
  • The site is available in English, German, French and Italian, and respects a reduced-motion setting on your device.

Known limitations

  • Some confirmations and errors appear as short notifications that close after a few seconds. They stay open while the pointer or keyboard focus is on them.
  • Listing photos are uploaded by sellers and are described only by the car and the photo number, not by what they show.
  • Listing descriptions are written by sellers, and we cannot guarantee that they are clear or complete.
  • The map view is an extra way to see where the cars are. Everything on it is also in the list view and in the list of listings by location under the map. The labels on the base map come from swisstopo, and we cannot adjust all of their contrast.

Compatibility

The site is designed for current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, on desktop and mobile, and for the screen readers built into or commonly used with them. It relies on HTML, CSS, JavaScript and WAI-ARIA.

How we assessed the site

This statement is based on our own assessment: automated testing with axe-core, keyboard testing of the pages and their forms, and a review of the code. It has not yet been audited by an independent organisation.
